ULURU, Australia (CNN) -- Smack in the middle of Australia is the world's largest monolith: Ayers Rock, or Uluru. The oval-shaped hunk of sandstone is 377 yards (345 meters) high; two miles (four kilometers) long; and one mile (two kilometers) wide.
Uluru (pronounced OO-la-ROO) is renowned for odd, weathered rock formations and for the way it seems to change color in the light, especially at sunrise and sunset. "It's just magical," tour guide Ethan Leeds says. "It's just the way to start a day or finish a day."
