HAMID REZA ASHDI, IRIB CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Conference on racism is being held in Durban, South Africa, at the time when Washington's position toward the gathering has created widespread international challenges and demonstrations promoting (UNINTELLIGIBLE) in a number of countries throughout the world.

Heads of states, foreign ministry officials of U.N. member countries have taken part in the conference, while prior to the opening of the conference in Durban, some 80,000 representatives from non-governmental organizations held a gathering.

Despite worldwide support for the anti-racism conference and discussing topics such as xenophobia, ethnicism and related intolerances, the U.S. President George W. Bush, expressing support for the Zionist regime, has boycotted the Durban conference.

Meanwhile, Israel (UNINTELLIGIBLE) has boycotted the Durban meeting because Islamic countries and non-governmental organizations were determined to denounce the racist policies of Tel Aviv.

Based on the initiative of the Islamic and Arab countries, the conference is set to discuss the idea that Zionism equals racism. Moreover, even if Washington would be successful in excluding some items from the conference's agenda, the racist nature of the Zionist regime, backed by U.S., would be denounced by the world public opinion as the greatest tribunal.

Applying pressure on U.N. Islamic countries and South African government by Washington and Tel Aviv to scrap the notion that Zionism equals racism from the agenda of Durban conference has left U.S. and Israel more isolated in the world stage. In addition, some 180 American civil organizes have denounced Washington's measures threatening the Durban conference.
